With the Milan Design Week and Salone del Mobile 2019 wrapping up a couple of weeks ago, our Director had the pleasure of attending the event and viewing all that the design and lighting world had to offer for 2019.

Shapes and colour seemed to be the big theme this year for lighting, with Masiero paying homage to Memphis style with pops of colour on metallic forms while Bover kept their designs delicate, playful & of course nature inspired. Ideal Lux & Studio Italia Design brought their futuristic flair to the table while Ebb & Flow are set to offer us even more stunning glass and crystal options within their range. A big congratulations to Viso and head designer Filipe Lisboa for winning the Red Dot award for 2018 in the product design category for their Wandering Star design.

The Red Dot award determines the best products made each year from thousands of applicants. Viso is a Canadian company based in Toronto which designs and manufacturers light fittings for both commercial and residential projects. Their Wandering Star is a perfect example of their unique and bespoke designs. The Wandering Star is made of solid European marble with a cast glass lens at the base with touches of hairline bronze. The Wandering Star comes in five finishes of Nero Black, Carrara Gloss and Matt White, Travertino and Indian Green marble and is available in two sizes. Beer Bubbles the Life of the Party!

Viso has created a stunning custom made light feature for BrewHouse in Toronto. Featuring custom glass amber and clear spheres on copper wiring which conform to the existing wooden beams featured throughout the original building. The light design was inspired by the beer brewing heritage of Amsterdam Brewery, creating the illusion of bubbles floating. Check out Viso’s product range via our website here.
